Dave is the creative behind Metanical Industries. Following a career in automotive panel beating, then 14yrs experience in the residential building scene, together with tertiary study in Landscape, Dave brings his love of metal to create unique handmade sculptures.
Inspired by both botanical and contemporary forms, Dave’s subject matters vary considerably from freestanding large autumn leaves, pinecones on sandstone plinths, to dramatic geometric shapes, traditional trellis and arbours, and even a foray into a stunning bespoke deer created for a local antler lighting business.
“I enjoy taking steel and reimagining it to form botanical or contemporary pieces and seeing the way it weathers when it has formed the rusted outer layer, popping in the sunlight and contrasting against the shades of green in a garden. I love the drama and the welcome that these pieces can create to a property’s entry, or interest they can add to an entertaining area or their transformation of a blank garden corner.”
