Exquisite cloisonne enamel jewellery and wall miniatures.

Laura Haszard

Laura is a cloisonné enameller based in Sydney, Australia, using vitreous glass to create one of a kind fine silver jewellery.

Cloisonné is an enamelling technique that has been used for centuries and involves using fine silver wire to make design cells, which are then filled with coloured glass. The glass resembles sand and is wet packed in thin layers with each layer then fired at 800C in a kiln until melted. There can be as many as 20 firings of the glass to build up the levels in the design cells and to achieve the depth of colour that she want.

A note from Laura:

It was the brilliant colours of enamel that attracted my attention 10 years ago, starting what I think will be a lifetime enjoyment for me in creating unique pieces of cloisonné jewellery for you to wear.

My cloisonné work is always made on fine silver in order to capture the beautiful transparency of the glass. I will sometimes add 24k gold foil, embossed fine silver foil and fine silver granulation for design effect.
